TreeGenerations contributes to the fight against climate change and its global impact by participating in reforestation and tree planting. We work with three generations to increase the longevity of our projects and to stimulate transfer of knowledge between different age cohorts.

HOW WE WORK
Step 1
WE PLANT SEEDS AND GROW TREES
We plant seeds of a wide variety of native tree species at our nursery.
The agroforestry system allows us to plant 1000 trees per hectare.
According to the World Agroforestry Centre there is a global underutilisation of native trees that bear fruit.
Step 2
WE PLANT A VARIETY OF TREES IN 3 LAYERS
With the agroforestry system, we plant a variety of native trees in 3 layers. This allows us to plant 1,000 trees per hectare.
We plant trees that require a lot of sun. Trees that require both sun and shade. Trees that thrive in shade.
Evidence clearly indicates that agroforestry can offer a number of ecosystem services and environmental benefits.

Through donations and efforts, in part of the area, a new forest is growing. Wildlife is coming back. We protect the new forest and the new life.
There are still many goals to achieve and activities to work on to bring back more and more trees.

We are continuously expanding and setting new goals to leave a positive green footprint for generations to come.
PASTURES WITH TREES
Many trees are cut down for the sake of cattle breeding. We preserve some pastures. We plant different species of native trees allowing cattle to eat the lower leaves. We plant specific grasses that thrive in the shade of trees and have a high nutritional value for cattle. Consequently, cattle has access to high-quality nutrients and can cool down in the shade of our trees.

SUPPLYING PLANTS
With the help of organisations that raise funds for tree planting projects, we plan to expand the size of our NURSERY. This allows us to supply locals, who cannot afford to buy saplings, with little trees. This way, they too can engage in reforestation, significantly increasing the number of trees planted regionally. Our goal : a nursery with the capacity to plant 100,000 trees to supply local landowners with saplings.

Trees absorb CO2 and release oxygen. Roots retain water and prevent soil erosion. Trees provide shade and evaporate. In short, trees have both a purifying and a cooling effect.

Native trees bearing fruit suitable for agroforestry are plentiful and diverse. Growth of a wide variety of fruit-producing trees adds nutritional value to the local community.
